ANZCHOG-BN member A/Prof Dan Catchpoole has been elected President of ISBERadmin, Published 17/04/19 – News
For the past 20 years the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER) have provided a forum for the discussion, debate and dissemination of knowledge related to biobanking practice and activity around the world. Through ISBER the world now has a set of Best Practice Recommendation for biobanking which has sparked groups like the International Standards Organization (ISO) to commence developing ISO standard documents that govern and direct biobank development. ISBER is a truly international society having members from across the globe and is the world’s leading society for experts in all areas of biobanking. We wish to CONGRATULATE Associate Professor Dan CATCHPOOLE who, after a two month long election process, was voted by his peers from across the world to be the next ISBER President. This is a three year voluntary appointment that will see Dan lead this society into ever improved practice, development and policy for biobank in every corner of the globe including the eventual accreditation of biobanks, for which the CHW Tumour Bank is one of the best. This is tremendous achievement by Dan and recognition of all the work done quietly within the Children’s Cancer Research Unit and across the Westmead campus by his team in the Tumour Bank.
